If you would like to use cloth nappies when your child goes to daycare, you will need to talk to your childcare centre,. Although the use of cloth nappies in childcare may be dependent upon the particular centre’s policies, you should find that most childcare centres are open to the idea. To make your centre more favourable to the idea, ensure the use of cloth is as simple as possible.
Some ways to make cloth easier for carers:
Explain how to use the nappies and that they can be as simple as disposables - you just don’t throw them out;
Explain that your child may need to be changed a little more frequently than when disposables are used;
Explain that the nappies do not need to be soaked, avoiding the need for a bucket of water;
Supply a bucket or wet bag for the wet/soiled nappies (this will most likely be a requirement);
Use flushable liners to make disposing of solids easier for the staff;
Use nappies that are easy to use, such as all in ones or pre-stuffed pockets, and with aplix/velcro rather than snaps (so that the nappy is as similar to a disposable as possible);
Use only one type of nappy so as to not confuse staff .
If you come across opposition from your centre, your state regulations may be useful. The regulations do not exclude or discourage the use of cloth nappies. The regulations outline that centres must have nappy changing and laundry facilities available and that soiled clothes, linen and nappies must be stored hygienically and out of reach of the children. For example, the South Australian regulation states that centres must provide "hygienic facilities, that are inaccessible to children being cared for at the centre, for the storage of soiled clothes, linen and nappies pending their disposal or laundering” (South Australia Children's Services (Child Care Centre) Regulations 1998 under the Children's Services Act 1985)

In addition, childcare centers must become accredited through the National Childcare Accreditation Council Inc.
There is nothing in the accreditation regulations that discourage or exclude the use of cloth nappies.
